Password Change Checklist
Here is a checklist when changing your SMUS network password
(to make sure your account does not get locked out)
1) Have you checked the rules for SMUS passwords here: Click Me
2) Change your own personal notebook wireless password for the SMUS network.
This varies depending on your notebook model and operating system.
The easiet is usually to delete the existing connection to the AirSMUS-Staff wireless network and then recreate it with your new password.
3) Change the wireless network password on your Mobile Device(s) - i.e. iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Android tablet, Blackberry
iPhone/iPad - Click Here
Android phone/tablet - Click Here
4) Change the Email password on your Mobile Device(s)
iPhone/iPad - Click Here
Android phone/tablet - Click Here
5) Change the password in your Virtual Desktop Connection - Windows, iPad, Android
6) Change your password in any other Email programs you have set up on your home computer/devices
7) Change your saved password on any SMUS websites that you visit from home - this is browser specific - google it...
8) Change your Papercut password on any personal Macintosh devices that access the network - Click Here
You get locked out of SDS,Email, or logging onto the school network if the system gets an invalid (i.e. old) password attempt several times in a row.
The system thinks someone is trying to hack your account - so it locks it for 5 minutes.
If it does get locked - during this time - check all the above steps and correct.
Then try again after 1 hour. You can also contact computer services to unlock your account immediately,
but if the underlying cause of the lock (see above steps) is not fixed first, your account will just lock again.
